Plus 20% OFF Summer Flash Sale 🎈

Greetings Gents,

Before we dive into our style note of the week, yes! Your eyes do not deceive you. 🤔 It’s true - we’re having a 48 hr summer flash sale with 20% off all items. And I don’t have to tell you, that many of your favorite items move fast, so if you’ve had your eye on a specific something…then you know what to do. Now back to this week’s style note…

Now if you’re a hat lover, and you’re looking for more ways to rock your fedora this summer, then this look is for you. The first step is identifying what type of sneakers will work well. And the truth is, any sneaker can work, although I must admit low profile and minimalist sneakers like Chuck Taylors, Adidas sambas, Onitsuka Tiger, Veja Volley, or a plain white sneaker are easiest to pull off. Simply because these styles of sneaker have a thinner sole, and are cut eerily similar to loafers. As such, they tend to flow well with standard tailored, or relaxed fit trousers and jeans. Most of my trousers are tailored to wear with my suits, and so I tend to stick with a low profile style of sneaker.

On the other hand, mid to high top sneakers like Jordan 1’s, New Balance 650Rs and Nike Blazers , or typical sneakers like Air Max’s or Reebok classics - that tend to be bulkier in nature, can also work well. High tops tend to look best with relaxed or boot cut trousers to cover the top of the sneaker. Bulkier low tops tend to also look good with those same style of trousers, but even better with cropped tailored fit trousers for a ‘no break’ fit.

After you’ve overcome your sneaker conundrum, the second challenge is deciding how to dress up your sneaker. You want your outfit to look intentional and not sloppy, so this does require a little bit of thought. The trick is to add at least one dressy element to the ensemble. As you can see here, dress trousers are always a good way to do it. I chose to pair this with one of my favorite graphic tees, tucked into my trousers to keep the outfit elevated. Should you opt for something else like denim, cargos or even shorts, then I strongly recommend a collared shirt like a polo or lightweight button down to keep things balanced. But more on this later and in the coming weeks.

Finally, the good news is that any style of fedora pairs well with sneakers, from short brims to wide brims. Just remember to accessorize, and have fun with your styling - from your desired fit and tailoring, to understated or bold colors. Embrace the season, dress for comfort, and keep things swaggy to lift up your spirits. You’d be surprised how much of a difference it can really make. Until next time! ðŸ«¡

Sincerely,
