Building on Simplicity. 🧱🚜
♻️ Versatility within your wardrobe.

Greetings Gents,
So the temperature’s dropped. And of course it’ll happen from time to time throughout the spring season, or even on summer evenings. In this episode of SG Style Notes, I wanted to build on the simplicity of last week’s outfit design with the halfway monochromatic scheme, this time sticking with none other than black items.
But first, let’s talk about your feedback from last week’s newsletter. I’m always delighted to see that you Gents are enjoying and getting great value out of these posts, and I sincerely appreciate each of you taking the time to read them. My hope is that it’s helping you simplify and navigate through your personal style journey. With that said the #2 topic requested was date night, and I think this is an absolute perfect look for that. Oh and not to worry, I’ll have a work appropriate version coming your way next week.

“The outfit is simple with depth. Using the watch bezel as the pop of color is elite!”

In comparisons to last week’s playbook, this outfit is quite similar although slightly different with an added layering option. When working with a base of black footwear and trousers, it doesn’t really matter what garment you choose to layer with. The opportunities are endless, from a denim or trucker jacket, to an overshirt, bomber jacket or field jacket as seen here. What’s most important, is that you are picking an appropriate under garment as a base layer that’ll retain comfort and is perfectly suitable for whatever climate you’re in. I specifically chose to work with the fatigue green color, as this shade often gives a militant approach to most outfits, and the jacket's patch pockets + shoulder epaulettes certainly don’t disappoint.
Andre is a big fan of gold accessories, and it works well with casual outfits. So these aggressive rings and green dial time piece paired nicely together with the outfit's theme. Although I chose to go with a combination of black denim and our Triple Black Sport Boots this go round, a pair of black dress trouser and black loafers would have worked flawlessly as well. Either is perfectly fitting for nightlife, however, a loafer substitution might be more appropriate for an elegant date night.

Finally, for the always optional headgear, you really can’t go wrong with any hat choice when the rest of your outfit is understated and toned down in color. What better opportunity, than to bring out the striking Miller Ranch Fedora in Patriotic Straw, with it’s bold crown ribbon that always turns heads? Looking your best doesn’t have to be a head scratcher, and you don’t always have to go shopping for new outfits. A few simple tricks, like this halfway monochromatic scheme, is one that allows you to be creative…and you can have tons of fun with. Until next time. 🫡
Sincerely,
