Making a 'ONE' of a kind splash. ⚡️

....in Southern Style of Course.

Every now and then, an exciting invitation makes its way to or from your inbox. Maybe it’s an upscale event you’ve just been invited too, or a special event of your own, like a birthday dinner or outing you’re planning to host. Figuring out what to wear in these special moments can be a little tricky. As you Gents are probably already aware, I’m always a big fan of doing ‘more with less’, or in other words working with items you already have. Sure, a few additions may be necessary from time to time. But maturing is realizing that you don’t need a new wardrobe or outfit for every new occasion.

We’ve been at this menswear thing for a while now, and luckily for us all, Western Style has gained a ton of popularity over the years; specially when it comes to wide brim fedoras. So I’m not quite sure if our lil’ ol’ S-Gents brand had any thing to do with the rise in popularity or the inspiration behind the costume styling on the set of the movie Sinners (crazier things have happened). But I certainly did draw some inspiration from ‘Smoke & Stack’ for this studio shoot. You see, sometimes we just have to wait until popular culture catches back up with those timeless classics. And those of us who consider ourselves renaissance men, know exactly what I mean.

What I love about this specific style take, is the ability to take one of your fine tailored suits, and completely transform it into something starkly different. Bold & edgy, however, still refined and elegant - thanks to the introduction of vintage accessories like bolo ties, turquoise stoned rings, and best of all carefully selected headgear. And in case you’re not a hat lover, a bolo tie alone, is strong enough to do the heavy lifting while maintaining your overall western swagger.

One last thing. Should you find yourself in hot humid weather, trade your suit jacket for a lightweight vest, and a long or short sleeve button down shirt. Unfortunately, we put this shoot together in a bit of a time crunch, but to further drive that vintage appeal, I’d suggest a bootcut tailored trouser or flared dark wash denim. And with that set, a pair of sleek Chelseas or some Cowboy boots you already own, will do just fine.

And that’s it. A coin flip on your suiting pieces, to show some versatility and range in your wardrobe and personal style. I’ve always felt that bringing out the most exciting and the very best in menswear, is a direct result of understanding simple style rules, individual creativity, and finally, having the courage to take a few style risks…within reason of course.

In the coming weeks, I’ll be working on showcasing a few more style concepts that illustrate how to squeeze more looks out of your suiting, truly making it a swiss army knife in your closet and perfectly fitting for a variety of occasions life may throw at you. As always, drop a vote in the poll below to let me know how you liked this issue, and feel free to write me back with any newsletter requests or new product suggestions. Until next time! 🫡

Sincerely,
